The brief
The brief was a terrace that could be laid for dinner at seven and cleared for breakfast at six, in a building forty metres from open water. That ruled out anything with applied hardware and anything that had to be carried in two hands.
We specified Bima frames for the lounge zone because the section sizes take a public load, Sembadra loungers along the pool because the rope can be rewoven on site, and the Srikandi stacking chair at the dining end so the floor clears nightly. All hardware is AISI 316. The three containers were loaded across six weeks against the opening date, with the lounge zone landing first so the photography could be shot before the rooms were finished.
Two years in, the raw pieces have silvered to an even grey and the operator has not replaced a frame.
