SVLK and EUDR: the paperwork behind our teak

Teak furniture from Indonesia travels with more paperwork than it did a decade ago, and for good reason: buyers in Europe, the UK and elsewhere have to show that the timber in what they sell was harvested legally and, under the EU Deforestation Regulation, that it did not come from recently deforested land.

SVLK. The Sistem Verifikasi Legalitas Kayu is Indonesia's national timber legality assurance system. It traces timber from its source through every business that handles it, and export shipments of wood products carry a V-Legal document issued under it. We have been SVLK-verified since 2012, and every export shipment we make is covered.

EUDR. The EU Deforestation Regulation places the obligation on the company that places the product on the EU market: it must collect information on where the wood came from, assess the risk and keep the records. We provide the documentation our European buyers need for their due-diligence statements, and we have been preparing shipments to this standard since 2024.

What to ask for. When you request a quotation for the EU, tell us so, and we will include the EUDR documentation in the shipping documents for your order. For other markets, the SVLK documentation and the standard export documents apply.

Our timber is solid plantation teak throughout. If your customers or your own compliance team have specific questions about the chain of custody, contact us and we will answer them with the documents themselves.
